Rebuilding in La Belle Province

Definitely some good news coming out of Quebec tonight for Canadian Liberals - the Globe and Mail article found here writes about a new Decima poll that shows that Liberal decimation in the province might not be quite as severe as it had been. Liberal support is now up to 28%, which is significantly up from earlier numbers.

Granted, it's not the end of the road, by any means. The Bloc still stands at about 50%, which is quite substantial - but not insurmountable. We're not finished the long journey back from our position in the low double-digits, but the trajectory is upwards - and that's great news. Liberal support needs to be reasonably stable and high in Quebec by the time the full Gomery report comes around - it's likely to take another hit once that document comes out. But this is certainly a welcome step.

Have I been disgusted by Chretien's actions? Yes, I certainly have. Have I been disappointed by Martin's leadership - again, the answer is yes. But the party as a whole is what I believe in. It's the principles of Liberalism that make me and many other Canadians support the party, not the actions of any one man.

That being said, a lot of changes need to be made in the party. We've been in power for a long time, and there's beginning to be a lack of ideas in the party - it's Government on autopilot, I'm afraid, most of the time. We need some new energy and new ideas, to ensure that we can keep building a Canada that is supported by the basic principles of Liberalism.

Martin could personally mug me at gun point and give me an atomic wedgy and I still wouldn't vote for the current incarnation of the Conservative Party.

If the CPC refuses to give up it's socon agenda I will vote for ANYONE that can prevent them from coming to power.

Have a good day :)

i personally think the damage in quebec is long term.

conservatives will never ever understand that a liberal scandal will not automatically translate into conservative votes. that's just such a ridiculous leap in logic and pretty tiring to hear all the time.
